JUNE 17-21 and JULY 22-26 WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY 10-4 AUDIENCE JOINS US AT 2 ON SUNDAY! THE JUNE 17-21 WORKSHOP - THE CHARACTER'S WORLD - THE CHARACTER'S BODY A workshop all about style. Period movement expert, Deborah Robertson, joins Chekhov Teacher, Dawn Arnold in an exploration of how to transform into characters from worlds different that our own. The first two days of the workshop will focus on Chekhov's Technique, activating the imagination and exploring the underlying aspects of the character through archetypes. The next two days will explore how a character embodies their world. We will visit the Edwardian period, the Restoration period, and the Elizabethan period, utilizing representative texts chosen for the explorations. We will put it all together and show our work in a one-hour presentation to invited audience at the end of the workshop. THE JULY 22-26 WORKSHOP - CHEKHOV ON CHEKHOV A study of character. Michael Chekhov's Technique meets Anton Chekhov's plays. Chekhov Teacher, Dawn Arnold, leads an intensive designed to go into depth on creating character and living in the world of Chekhov. We will explore Three Sisters and then create a montage of moments from the play. We will show some of our work in a one-hour presentation to invited audience at the end of the workshop. The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique merges physical training with imaginative psychological authenticity in an effective process that moves actors beyond their limits into the imaginary worlds of theatre. The mission of The Moving Dock Theatre Company is to provide opportunity for aspiring actors to develop and deepen their art. The Moving Dock Theatre Company's Studio in Chicago provides a place for actors to redefine their art through ongoing workshops and artistic projects. The Studio is a place where actors can find support, guidance, and much needed focus. Our artistic projects are ensemble-based explorations, oriented in the acting technique of Michael Chekhov, enabling actors to identify with their artistry and focus their creativity. Artistic projects in the Studio are cast through audition and workshops are open to all performers |
