Six Week Classes
Michael Chekhov Acting Technique I – Essentials
March 16 – April 20, 2015
Monday evenings 7-9:30 PM

Begin your study of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique with this six week class. We will cover the essential concepts of the Chekhov Technique found in Chekhov’s book, To The Actor. This class can be repeated by actors wishing to continue to develop their ability towards mastery and by theatre teachers gaining understanding of these principles for their teaching.

- Experience the dynamic principles of the technique while exploring effective tools for the actor: qualities, energies (inner action), sensations, rhythms, centers, and psychological gestures.

- Develop your instrument – body and voice – finding ease, movement ability, creative freedom and focus. The Chekhov Technique is movement based, making connections between mind and body, knowing and doing.

- Learn Chekhov’s creative, improvisational process for exploring and developing a role. Actors will be applying the technique to a character of their choice as well as playing with short improv scenes.
All our continuing classes and special workshops are built on this foundational course.

This class is taught by Dawn Arnold, assisted by Alicia Hall
