Other Info | Michael Chekhov Acting Technique Class Mondays 7-10PM Next Class: February 18 - March 25, 2013 7-10 PM For new and continuing students of the Chekhov Technique. The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique provides for the creative process of the actor with effective tools and a working method to give actors what they need to reach artistic and career success. Chekhov's Technique is a cutting edge approach to character development and dynamic performance. The Six Week Class is training in the principles of the technique as found in Chekhov's book, To The Actor. Actors will work on characters for upcoming productions or for auditions for theatre or film, seeing how the technique works in a practical way. Each session includes training of the 'actor's body'. Actors will work on characters with imaginative improvisational exploration using Chekhov's guiding points of focus, and short solo or partner scenes. As we work in an ensemble format, you will be practicing all evening on your character and scene. There will be time for each actor to perform individually in every class. Actors new to the Chekhov Technique are required to commit fully to the Six Week Class during which time they will be introduced to the essential components of the Chekhov Technique. After their first training in the technique, they are allowed to drop-in for Technique Class during other sessions to renew and continue their development. The review of the technique helps the continuing actor stay in their best game while the actor new to the modus operandi of the Chekhov Technique encounters it for the first time. The supportive ensemble also provides an audience for trying out ideas as you work. Actors should think of these studio classes as a way to prepare, a place to experiment, and a dedicated environment for the development of their art. Class fee: $180 for Members, $240 for Non-members Buy a Studio Member Class Card for one year and enjoy discounted workshop fees for every workshop you take.
