This Winter Session we’re bringing study in Chekhov Essentials and Chekhov Scene Study together in an eight week immersion. Make deep connections and hone your acting skills.

Imagine beginning a rehearsal process the Chekhov way, working on the actor’s body and then diving into developing a character and working creatively on the play. That is the impulse for this eight week immersion in the art of the actor. We will be working on one play in both the Essentials and the Scene Study. On Monday evenings we will prepare our acting body with the essential concepts of the Chekhov Technique in the context of the play we have before us. On Tuesday evenings we will look at how the technique guides our process as we work on parts of the play together.

The immersion will be taught by Dawn Arnold, Certified Michael Chekhov Teaching Artist and Artistic Director of Moving Dock Theatre Co.

Continuing students of the Chekhov Technique who have had previous training in Chekhov essentials may take the Tuesday scene study class separately. Actors new to Chekhov Technique who feel they are not ready to take both classes at this time may take the Monday essentials separately. Contact the studio to ask questions.
