Eight Week Class

March 27 – May 15, 2017
Monday evenings, 7-9:30PM

What is it to walk in another’s shoes when you have actually met and talked with the person you are portraying? Utilizing the tools for character development from our study of the Chekhov Technique, we will portray a character we have interviewed, listened to, deeply considered, and taken on in an act of empathy.

Playing a ‘real’ character is an exciting opportunity for an actor, requiring willingness to be an objective observer and the craft of the actor to transform. Supporting one’s career objectives, this artistic focus can expand one’s ability to perceive and understand others, something greatly needed in our times.

This is a different take on our eight week acting class this spring, utilizing the tools for character development from our study of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique taught by Chekhov Teaching Artist, Dawn Arnold.

Note: As part of our exploration of artistic ways to portray a person, we will do one class at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Any actor who has taken a Chekhov workshop or class, either at Chekhov Studio Chicago or elsewhere, is welcome to take this course.

Class fee: $320 / $240 Studio Members*
Payment plans available.
